Alumni Spotlight
Jeremiah Lockwood graduated in 2021 and is currently a 2023-24 Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies. He is a scholar and musician, working in the fields of Jewish studies, performance studies, and ethnomusicology. His first book, an ethnography of Hasidic singers in Brooklyn, is forthcoming from UC Press. He also released a companion album of music that he produced featuring cantors who participated in his research. We are thrilled to welcome Jeremiah back to campus in 2024 to deliver our annual Clara Sumpf Yiddish Lecture Series and perform some of his original music for us.
