Anuj Amin is a PhD candidate in the Department of Religious Studies whose research brings the everyday religious world of late antiquity into view through Aramaic incantation bowls. Created to protect individuals and households from demons and misfortune, these inscribed objects form the basis of his dissertation on ritual practice, religious exchange, and lived experience in late ancient Mesopotamia, or modern day Iran and Iraq.
Anuj serves as the Taube Center’s Graduate Student Liaison and Programs Coordinator, helping organize major international conferences and scholarly programs. In the spring of 2026, he was a finalist in Stanford’s Three-Minute Thesis competition, where he presented his research on incantation bowls to the members from across Stanford in just three minutes.
