"Since 2005, over 60,000 refugees from sub-Saharan African have migrated to Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's response to this pattern has provoked a contentious debate among government leaders both within and outside of Israeli. This summer I hope to research public perceptions of this topic, particularly those of Israeli youth." -Stephanie Nevel, 2013

Stephanie is a member of the class of 2015 majoring in International Relations and Spanish. Outside of classes, she works with the Department of Art & Art History, Stanford Women in Business, and the Stanford Association for International Development. Over the next year, she plans to study abroad in Tel Aviv, Barcelona, and Madrid.

She received The Dr. Bernard Kaufman Undergraduate Research Award in Jewish Studies in 2013 for her proposal "December 2013- Report on the Situation of African Migrants in Israel."
