Haggay Etkes

Etke's research deals with historical and contemporary economies of the Middle East, focusing on property rights supporting institutions. He holds an M.Sc. in economics and economic history (LSE), and an M.A. in Middle Eastern history (Tel Aviv U.) and has working knowledge in Arabic, Turkish, and Hebrew. Last year, Etke completed his Ph.D. (Hebrew U.) on the economic history of Ottoman Gaza under the supervision of N. Sussman, and J. Mokyr, and was a post-doctoral fellow at Stanford U. Etke is beginning to work at the Bank of Israel's research devision.
