Ben Schwartz
Originally from San Diego, Ben has long been fascinated with the relationship between modernity and religion. His research has examined the potential of cultural shifts and scientific advancements to implement social reform in Orthodox Judaism. After graduating with a double major in religious studies and biology and a minor in Jewish Studies, Ben will be working at Stanford Children's Health as a performance improvement coordinator. His ultimate hope is to become a physician who bridges religious tradition and medical innovation.
He received the Donald and Robin Kennedy Undergraduate Award in 2018 for his thesis "Petichat HaHeikhal: Reframing Homosexuality In American Orthodox Judaism” written under advisors Profs. Charlotte Fonrobert and Ariel Mayse.
