Awards and Recognition for Jewish Studies Graduate Students
Stanford Jewish Studies graduate students from across the disciplines are being recognized for their outstanding contributions to the field. Congratulations to these students!
- Nesi Altaras (PhD Candidate, History) will speak at the Jewish Community Library on April 30, "An Evening with Ladino: Exploring Sephardic Culture Through Language." The Jewish News of Northern California interviewed Nesi about his work, read it here>>
- Ariel Horowitz (PhD Candidate, Comp Lit) has been awarded the 2026 Siegel/McDaniel Award, from the Philip Roth Society, for his work on Roth.
- Sam Page (PhD Candidate, Slavic Studies) won the Luckens essay competition from the Jewish Studies program at the University of Kentucky for his work "Peretz in the Field, Peretz in the Salon: Yiddish Salvage Literature and Early Jewish Ethnography." As part of the award, he will deliver a lecture for the university, April 30th at 4pm PST. Click to join>>
