Passing in Plain Sight: Jewish Passing Narratives

How have Jews fashioned their ethnic, racial, and national identities in relation to the majority cultures in which they live? What is the "price" for passing--as white, as non-Jewish--and what are the benefits? How have Jews explained their approaches to these questions in philosophy, literature, and film? What are the implications of Jewish passing for the roles Jews play in narratives of national identity and the roles they play in the narratives constructed about Jews by other minority groups?

Join Drs. Jonathan Branfman, Rebecca Glasberg, and Courtney Hodrick--three postdoctoral fellows in Jewish Studies--to explore these questions over lunch.
