David S. Lobel Visiting Scholar in Jewish Studies

The David S. Lobel Visiting Scholar in Jewish Studies Fund supports the annual lecture which brings scholars whose academic foci includes the study of the Bible, Jewish mysticism, and/or Jewish philosophy and theology in the ancient, medieval, and modern periods, especially for students who are interested in deepening their understanding of Judaism. For the academic year 2023-2024, we welcome Dr. Deena Aranoff, director of the Richard S. Dinner Center for Jewish Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA as our Lobel Scholar. Aranoff delivered a public lecture in addition to teaching an undergraduate course, "The Hebrew Bible: Readings in Religion and Culture."
