Cosmic Diaspora is an experimental poetry-and-music project that brings together science fiction, Jewish mysticism, and immigrant mythology into a heady admixture, rooted in jazz and klezmer improvisation. The project features Jake Marmer (poetry), John Schott (guitars), and Joshua Horowitz (piano/accordion). Marmer's work was hailed as a “soulful narrative line in counterpoint to … language-drunk abstractions” (The Jewish Week), “experience of mystic pleasures … freshly contemporary” (Shofar), & a “thought provoking debut” (All About Jazz). John Schott is a Grammy-nominated, legendary Bay Area guitar player and composer. Joshua Horowitz is the co-founder of Bay Area's foremost klezmer collective Veretski Pass band, and has performed and recorded with Theodore Bikel, The Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Rubin and Horowitz, Brave Old World, Adrienne Cooper and Frank London, among others.
