In 2016-17, the Taube Center for Jewish Studies showcased an initiative on Jewish Engagement with the Arts that included the following events:
- A film screening of Rabin: The Last Day with renowned Israeli filmmaker, Amos Gitai
- A talk and book event with Michael Krasny, professor of English at SFSU and author of "Jewish Humor: What it All Means"
- A live music performance to the silent film, The Yellow Ticket, with violinist/composer Alicia Svigals
- Time-Body Study/ A Virtual Reality Performative Experiment with Daniel Landau
This year also inaugurated the Center's first Artist in Residence, Saar Magal, a young choreographer and director from Tel Aviv.
